Adenoids be Gone

What can I say? All my girls needed to have their adenoids remove and Dionka wasn't going to stay behind!!! No, seriously, she had them remove to help her with her breathing and SNORING!!! I understand that the best time to have adenoids remove is when you are a kid, so thank goodness we were able to have it done. Now Dante is the only kid at home who has adenoids.

So Dionka had to fast for the surgery, no foods or liquids after midnight on March 26. Then we needed to be at the clinic at 7am. I got her up after I ate breakfast. I got her dressed and when I picked her up to take her to the car she started to wonder what was going on but, as soon as she saw we were leaving she got exited. 

We were at the clinic by 6:45am, checked-in and waited, and waited, and waited until 8:30. We got to go to surgery prep, changed her clothes to the hospital gown, went through all the procedures, talked to the anesthesiologist and the surgeon. Then they gave her a relaxer to take her to the OR without me. I gave her a big hug and a kiss and went to waiting room.

She was gone for almost an hour. They were having a hard time getting my girl up from the anesthesia (she takes after me on that). Then I was able to see her. She was sad crying until I held her. She kept falling asleep and they didn't want to send us home if she wasn't alert, so we waited and waited and waited. We kept offering her juice, popsicles and nothing. Then finally, she drank 3oz of juice and I changed her to street clothes and on our way we went home.

The recovery? The first day she was out, slept almost the whole day with only 3oz of juice on her stomach in 24 hours. 

Second through third days were fabulous, still taking pain medicine but ,she played outside, rode her bike.

Then it came the 4th day and the pain on her throat and her neck kicked in hard. She was miserable and I was so confused. Her articulation changed and I called the doctor with concern: "what is going on? why is she baby talking now? Why pain when is almost a week?" Yeah, expect that for 3 weeks, it is completely normal, he said. 

For a whole week she wasn't able to look up, her neck hurt so bad but is getting better.

What really worried me is her baby talking but, again is part of the healing process. She is trying to keep her throat from hurting. 

Anywasy, 2 weeks now and she is still tender on her neck but no more pain meds or antibiotics.

Cruising Around

So Dionka learned to ride her bike and how exciting it is!!! And what do you do when it is too cold outside? You ride your bike in the kitchen!!!! Glad that she still have fun.

Alondra's Stroke: 1 Year Mark

Today, a year ago, Alondra had the stroke. It was a scary day in our lives, but we felt the love of God through all of you that supported us with prayers and messages of courage and faith. A year ago, she wasn't talking, walking, eating or even moving on her own. Today, she is running, jumping, eating, and is a happy girl. She is still recovering, but she is with us!!! and we couldn't be more thankful to our Heavenly Father for the blessings He has put on us.
